Magnolia, Texas – May 17, 2021- Peter Burwash International (PBI) is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Club at High Hampton in Cashiers, North Carolina. Nestled in the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, the community of High Hampton is surrounded by 1400 protected acres of natural beauty.

High Hampton has been home to families for generations, with homes situated within the property’s hills and valleys. The iconic heart of the High Hampton estate is the historic Inn, which has welcomed guests to this mountain oasis for nearly a century. As well as enjoying the private lake, hiking trails and lavish gardens, guests also have full access to other on-property amenities like golf and racquet sports, which are made available through, and operated by, High Hampton’s residential membership program, The Club at High Hampton. The Club provides not only access to all amenities but also to a robust social and athletic calendar for members and guests.

High Hampton’s tennis and pickleball program, which will be under the direction of PBI from the season opening May 21st through October, celebrates the resort’s long-standing passion for racquet sports. Developed under the direction of Andy Roddick, former world tennis champion and part-time Cashiers resident, the competition-caliber facilities include four Har-Tru clay courts, one classic hard court and four pickleball courts.

In conjunction with this announcement PBI has appointed Wendell McConnie to be its first Director of Racquet Sports for the High Hampton program. McConnie, who has club, academy, and five-star resort experience in coaching and programming, holds certifications in tennis from the USPTA and the ITF and in pickleball from the IFP. His current assignment is at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club, a premier gated community in Florida.

Working closely with the Club at High Hampton, McConnie and PBI are developing a complete menu of instructional, social and competitive programs that will integrate members and guests and offer activities for players of all ages and abilities.

Of the new affiliation, Natasha Kittrell, Director of Outdoor Activities at High Hampton, commented, “We knew that partnering with PBI Tennis would provide us the best instruction and programming for our tennis and pickleball players. They send world-class instructors to countless tennis clubs in the country. We are thrilled that Wendell will be kick starting our program. He is knowledgeable, pleasant and hard working. We have no doubt that he will be a great asset to High Hampton.”

Added PBI President Rene Zondag, “High Hampton is a vibrant community in such a beautiful natural setting. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to offering a racquet sports program that will be part of the memorable experiences High Hampton provides for its members and guests.”
